Dave Favis-Mortlock: FiddleBop |

Nowadays, I mostly play jazz violin. I've always loved improvising, but have only slowly realised that improvising in a jazz context is what I enjoy most. Even more slowly have I come to believe that I'm actually capable of playing jazz on the fiddle! For sure, I'm still learning. And I try to learn something to improve my improvisational skills every day: if I ever say "I've learned enough", it will be time to stop playing.
So Jo (on guitar and vocals) and me (violin and vocals) do gigs. Sometimes as a duo, sometimes as a trio with upright bass player ('upright' refers to the instrument, not the man) Roger Davis.
Our set includes jazz standards from all periods: Black Bottom and The Charleston from the early years, Ain't Misbehavin' and Night and Day from the swing era, through to John Coltrane's Giant Steps and Naima; as well as some of our own songs.
